SPIRITUAL PRACTICE IS ESSENTIAL TO BEING A BRILLIANT MANIFESTER. CONSCIOUS BREATHING – HERE’S HOW

Conscious breathing is something I keep referring to and writing about and if you do nothing but this as your spiritual practise, you will be doing a brilliant practice!

Here’s how:

1. find a quiet place where you will be undisturbed

2. set an alarm for three minutes so that you can completely let go and not worry about the time

3. close your eyes and bring your attention on your breathing

4. breathe in for the count of 4, pulling air to  your tummy so that it expands, hold it for 2 seconds, and then softly exhale for the count of 6, hold it out for 2  seconds.

5. Repeat this breathing until your alarm clock goes.

The body infuses your goals with energy

Affirmations, visualisations and right behaviour are all good and well but unless you feel the thing you want in your body, it won’t come into your world.

The body is the mouth piece of the unconscious. Be wise. Listen to it. When the body resonates with your life goals and desires, you are aligned to the creative power of the universe. It becomes easy. When the body resonates with something else, ie what you might NOT want, that will bring confusion, discomfort and what you consider as failure.

‘There is more wisdom in your body than in your deepest philosophies.’  Fredrich Nietzche

So what do we do if we realise that our outer efforts are in conflict with some inner process, or feeling? The answer is simple.  Use the body to release the conflicting part. Use the body to bring about the healing. Use the body to inform.  Use the body.

The body has infinite wisdom and power

There are 6 trillion chemical reactions in the human body every second, and each cell has its own intelligence which governs what happens in that cell. But did you know that each cell communicates with other cells? In fact each cell knows what every other cell in the body is doing.  And even more astounding is how each cell tracks everything that is happening to every other cell in the body, including the 6 trillion biochemical processes that are happening to that cell each moment.

Moreover this overlighting body intelligence monitors what is happening outside itself too.  Your body keep track of the sun, so that it can, for instance, secrete different chemicals in the day and different ones at night. One of those chemical changes is the secretion of melatonin which helps you go to sleep at night.

Imagine if the body didn’t monitor the sun and started pumping out melatonin during the day as you are driving your car! Oops.  Not good.  You rely on this amazing intelligence and ability to keep operating properly.  Real success requires you to consciously work with this intelligence to achieve your life purpose. Dr David Hawkins says in his book Power vs. Force that the mind uses the body to think. Remember this fact. This realisation will empower you.

The body influences the universal energy field

We live in a big ocean of energy, and your energy field, the one held by and generated through your body, is forever interacting with that ocean. You, through you body, have the ability to influence the energy field of all of life, sending and receiving vibrations that affect, no, create, your very circumstances.  What you do with your body, counts big time.  Rumi says it like this: No prayer is complete without presence.

So much to learn about this. I recommend an excellent movie by Gregg Braden on YOU Tube.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MP_JXkh9m-A

Is GOD’S hand on your business and life?

In her closing remarks in her very last (and large) show, Oprah said that God’s hand had been on her business, implying that her incredible success was due to that. That comment really stuck with me.

I started to ask myself, if her comment is true, what about those who try to live God-connected lives, who work hard and smart, but never achieve anywhere near Oprah’s success?  Does that mean that God’s hand is NOT on their business? Does that mean that they will bust their gut, do their best, pour their talents, time and heart out, but that big ol’ hand will still be anywhere but hovering over them?

To be honest, asking myself this question has brought up stuff for me. I feel confused and sad. If my business is not a runaway success like Oprah, (even a mini version would do, er God…?) does that mean that God’s hand is withheld for some reason?  And if so, what is the reason?

The implications are vast. Would God not put a hand on your business because of who you are? Or would it be conditional on you doing certain things in certain ways? Or does God prefer certain businesses to others? Or are the churches right, you need to repent your sins in order to receive the hand?  Or does one person’s life path have the hand and the other not, simply by some esoteric new agey choice made at the beginning of this life?

Or maybe I am greedy, and the mere wanting a big hand makes sure all I get is a small hand? On the other hand, (there seem to be lots hands in this article) if Gods hand is the success factor in business, does it mean if a business is successful, that God’s hand is on it?   Then I get to ask: what about massively wealthy empires built on crime, destruction and anything but Godly behaviour?  I find it difficult to even consider that the big ol’ hand is on those businesses!

Searching for the answers to the big ol’ hand is feeling like a punch in the stomach at the moment, and I can’t help noticing how upset I feel as I consider that God’s hand might not be present on my business  and life affairs –  or that maybe Oprah got the whole hand and I will only ever the baby finger tip.

The truth is that I could write a book on the ways I have experienced God in my life and my business. From a being of light appearing to me in my sleep telling me about a new business venture to hearing dictation as I wrote a new book, surely these are examples of God’s hand on my life? But since I am not that Oprah runaway success, does this mean that God’s hand only sweeps fleetingly over my life and then moves on? Do I have a timeshare situation with the hand? Or should I say the Hand?

I’m taking some downtime (that means I am lying in bed all day) to consider all this and what it means (I wonder if Oprah ever takes downtime in bed in a state of confusion? Maybe God’s hand only works for people who have unending energy and never feel confused….)  and I am remembering a time in 2009. I had just returned from a trip to India (a trip given me as a gift – definitely a sweep of the ol’ hand!).

As I settled back into London life, one night I dreamt I had been called in by a client. Before I started running the session, I sit down and meditate.   A fly is circling the room. As I meditate it comes gently to reset in my open hand. In the dream I do nothing. It buzzes off to circle the room again.  I realise I could have simply closed my fingers to catch it. I keep meditating. Unexpectedly it circles and land directly back in my hand. I close my fingers and release it outside. I realise that the job for the client is done. They had called me in to take out the fly. Dream ends.

Inspired by remembering my dream, I realise that all these questions can be answered without effort. So now I meditate. And the answer to all these questions will simply arrive. In my hand. About God’s Hand.

God turns you from one feeling to another and teaches by means of opposites so that you will have two wings to fly, not one. Rumi

PERSONAL THOUGHTS – THE POWER OF CORRECTLY NAMING WHAT IS HAPPENING

How you classify things in your mind dramatically, amazingly and sometimes terribly alters things for you. This weekend I had a chance to deeply experience how different feelings come up when the name, the description, of a situation is changed in the mind.
 Here’s how it went:

I was on a business trip and needed to send email. Someone offered to lend me their internet dongle, which I gladly accepted. I went on-line did my thing and then placed the dongle on the kitchen counter. But I think that the dongle dragon was on the prowl that day, because, the dongle simply vanished in the course of the house being tidied, and I wasn’t doing the tidying! Everyone searched high and low. The situation was a mystery. Then it became an issue. Tension prevailed, tightropes were suddenly up and we were all trapeze artists.  What got me going was I was going to have to buy a dongle that I would never see or use or benefit from, one that already been thrown out! Ur hum, some of my money patterns were, shall I say, active? …

Lesson: Highly charged spaces, events that really press buttons are always Soul talk. I was very aware of how my body felt during the process, and how certain response patterns were screaming to play out. But I hung in by my nails. I kept allowed them place in my inner experience, but did not act them out.( In my workshops I call this the silent orgasm. You might want to shout or scream or moan, but because your mother in law is in the room next door, you won’t, can’t and don’t.  The same applies for processing stuck feelings  They are personal to you, and for your own to experience and release.)

As is the way with Spirit, the shift arrives in unexpected ways.  Whereas I was planning to meditate to help myself through these difficulties, a more and surprisingly elegant solution flowed in on its own – as I sat down to update my income and expenses I spontaneously renamed the dongle ‘debt’ – from ‘’buy a dongle [I will never hold or use dammit!]’’ to ‘’dongle usage’’ . Something magical happened. My feelings of being extorted turned to inner laughter. My mind replayed the loan, saw me needing to do internet that day, so much so, that I would be totally willing to pay R600 for a 30 minute session. Ha!

I still have a residue of stuckness in my gut. Probably very much part of a larger pattern of feeling forced to pay  –  and I will take to my meditation. But my relationship with this experience is in another category now.  And that’s wonderful.

Naming it is framing it. And framing it creates a container which will allow – or disallow – energies to flow. Flow gives life to your body, wings to your dreams and infuses your heart with Love – love with a big L.

PS. This blog will be uploaded with the new dongle I intend to buy for myself today!

(Within 24 hours I had been offered a dongle at a quarter of the usual cost…)

PERSONAL THOUGHTS – I WROTE A NOTE TO GOD AND MY LIFE CHANGED FOREVER!

I wrote an magical little book in 2001. Ride the River. How I got to do that was out of the ordinary to say the least. Most authors gather information and then sit to write their words. My first books were much like that, but this one was different. All I did was connect to a concept. The rest came through me. This is how it happened.
On the 1st of January 2001 I wrote a note to God.  ‘Dear God, I am ready to unravel the mysteries of life. Teach me and I will teach others.’ This note wasn’t planned or even thought out. I was busying myself around the house when it simply arrived in my consciousness. I just said yes to the impulse, grabbed pen and paper and wrote it down. I still have that scribbled note in my papers, and looking back I see that this was a holy moment. We all have them. They take place when we align ourselves to our Soul. Sometimes that alignment happens by grace and other times by personal choice, however if we say a full yes to a holy moment it takes our lives to a new level in remarkable way, and that’s exactly what happened to me.
At the time I was living in Cape Town running a business in motivational training. By April of that year, the note long forgotten, I was getting ready to attend a friend’s wedding up country. Just before I left I ran a disciplinary process at the office. I found this extremely difficult and the incident left me upset, confused and drained. I left town with a clear awareness that some things needed to change and now was the time.
Fortuitously my short vacation gave me space to take stock of my life, in particular the amount of mental, emotional and physical energy I was putting in to keep my business going. I started asking myself, and God, why it was that I was always pushing myself way beyond what was healthy – working too hard, too long with not nearly enough rewards. I remember a moment of absolute clarity in my hotel room when I wrote on a piece of yellow post-it note  “no more push-push, I want to be in the flow.”
No more push push! Gosh, how those words changed things. They became my mantra and without realising it they were God’s first answer to my New Year note. I had started to ‘unravel the mysteries of life’. I stopped pushing and started riding. What happened then was short of miraculous. All sorts of unexpected events started to occur and soon my entire life, my view of it was changed forever. The exact details are fascinating, and when I think back I always feel inspired. I want to share that true story, the hope and inspiration with you, so I continue the story in my next blog. In the meantime, please visit my facebook page and support me as I set out to create a new exciting energy around the book that unravelled those mysteries I spoke to God of.  RIDE THE RIVER – The definitive guide to aligning to your Soul, a river of Divine Energy, to achieve success.
